

The Community Development Centre functioning under the Karpagam Institutions has always be proactive in rendering vocational skill development and training programmes in the Self help Groups and to the poor rural women right from its year of inception in the year 1998. Identified as one of the Training Centre in the State by the Department of Social Welfare and Department of Technical Education to offer skill training to women under Chief Minister ´s special scheme. The centre was successful in conducting various programmes for rural women in collaboration with Small Industries Development Bank of India, District Industries Centre, District Rural Development Agency and other Govt. Bodies. The centre actively renders services to the nearby villages of Seerapalayam, Palathurai, Meenakshipuram, and Madukkarai block. Food Processing Training Centre: Food Processing Training Centre offers training programme in pickle making, fruit jam making and ready mix products. This centre is funded and approved by the Ministry of Food Processing, Govt. of India. On the campus training programme is given and so far about 178 women from various SHG´s is been benefited. Tailoring and Modern – Dress Making: Tailoring is given to the underprivileged poor and unemployed women in the areas of Seerapalayam, Palathurai and Madukkari Block. 86 Rural women is been benefited under this programme. Computer Training & Screen Printing Computer Training with DTP and Office Automation is imparted to educated urban and rural poor women. The training programme has benefited about 45 educated women folks. Coir Rope Making: Training in Coir– Rope Making is given to SHGs of Adi Dravida Women Group in Vazhukkuparai and Meenakshipuram villages with the assistance from DRDA and Madukkarai Block Development Officer. The training programme was successful in benefiting 25 uneducated women. Leaf – cup Making & Chemical Preparation: The total beneficiaries in this unit are around 80 women from various SHG´s Future – Agenda the Community Development Centre has plan to implement the following training programmes in the forthcoming year:
