CANADA – INDIA INSTITUTIONAL CO-OPERATION PROJECT (CIICP)
The Canada – India Institutional Co–operation Project (CIICP) is a Technical Education Project, launched in 1991 through a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Canada and the Government of India. Initially it was funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and executed by the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC).The overall project direction is provided by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in India. The CIICP has contributed to Human Resource Development with in the Indian Polytechnic system and has achieved the objective of enhancing the capability of the system to meet India´s priority development needs. In the process, the project has fostered strategic links comprising of the ISTE - New Delhi, TTTI – Chennai, Directorates of Technical Education of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu, 107 Polytechnics in these states, ACCC and selected Canadian Community Colleges and Institutes. As a result of implementing the model, the polytechnics are able to plan their activities strategically, offer needs – based training and meet more closely the expectations of business and industry by developing technicians with marketable and applicable skills. Our Polytechnic College has been selected for the implementation of the CIICP initiatives under phase XI replication process from
the year 2009 – 2010.
