NON - CONVENTIONAL ENERGY STUDY CENTRE

To create an awareness on the necessity of Non Conventional Energy Sources among the students and people of this area our polytechnic has launched a Non - conventional study centre at our college premises. More over this centre will educate the rural masses and visitors on the importance of Non Conventional energy sources by means of its activities.
The non - conventional or renewable source of energy have attracted the global attention and evoked interest among planners, policy makers, economist etc. Recent years have witnessed a global trend in favour of a shift in focus away from conventional fossil fuels and towards renewable energy resources to meet the increasing demands of energy. All the developing and under developing countries have made many commitments to promote renewable energy resources.
The institution believes that actions are stronger than words. It is our foremost intention to utilize the renewable energy source in our campus on a large scale practice to make our students as well as the public to feel about the importance and the necessity of Non Conventional Energy Sources.
Hence we have installed various devices at our institution from the funds provided by the management. These devices have been installed such that they are not only in continuous operation but also are being used for experimentation and course augmentation by the students. State level science and technology exhibitions are organized by our institution every year in the month of August and school students and the public are permitted to visit the exhibition on free of cost, where in, more importance is given to the renewable energy sector.

The focus behind this energy centre is :

  • To make aware of the students and rural people about renewable energy resources.
  • To provide an opportunity for students and teachers to conduct experiment on the basic working principles
  • of renewable energy
  • To act as a recreational medium for school going children and rural people.
  • To conduct R & D projects in thrust areas of non - conventional energy sources.

The following devices are installed at our Non - Conventional energy study centre. The details regarding the devices installed at our institution with their cost for repairing are as follows:

1. PARABOLIC COLLECTOR
Parabolic collector is a device which is used for boiling, melting, and heating different load materials by using solar energy. It is simple in construction. Light - rays from the sun are focused to a single point and then solar energy is converted in to heat energy. The solar radians are also pollution free and can them selves be used in a valued manner reducing the cost of wood, coal and gases.
Now we are using Aluminium Dish for the automatic focusing of sun rays. Thus we can receive exact heating or boiling treatment.
