3. SOLAR PARABOLIC MIRROR COLLECTOR
Solar parabolic mirror collector is designed to meet out the requirements of small scale and medium scale industries where continuous flow of hot fluid is required to run the production. It is also used for domestic and commercial purpose apart from usage in the industries where medium concentrator is sufficient to reach the desired operating temperature.
The structure consists of a parabolic frame in which rectangular pieces of glasses are placed in segments. In this line focus system is adopted where the solar radiations are focused to a copper tube placed in the central location in which the working fluid is made to pass. The inlet of the pipe is connected to the supply source and outlet is connected to where the hot fluid is required to be delivered.
The concept of central receiver collector is to avoid the cost and heat losses in transporting a working fluid to a central location using sunlight itself as a transfer medium.
4. SOLAR POND
Solar pond is a solar energy collection and sensible heat storage device which employees mass of water for both collection and storage of solar energy in low grade thermal form (60*c-100*c). It over comes the major problems like diluteness and intermittent nature of solar energy in its harnessing on a large scale. At present salts like sodium chloride are dissolved in varying concentration in the pond to generate a stable density gradient to tap the water at different temperature from different levels.
It can be used for a variety of application such as space.
Heating, industrial processes using heat and to obtain mechanical or electrical energy from the Ranking cycle engines. It is advantages than natural ponds as the later losses the heat energy collected through convection and evaporation from its structure.
